Hi Everyone!
It seems amazing that
February 23, 2009, I taped my segment of Sesame Street and it took 11
months for it to be aired. It was so much fun.
The national air date for the first appearance of Show #4207 is January
21st, but in the Philadelphia area on WHYY, it will be on January 22nd
at 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. There will be re-runs in March, April and many
months after.

Since it’s the 40th Birthday season for Sesame Street, lots of famous
people are on the show. It’s amazing who is on, too. First Lady Michelle
Obama was the guest on the first show. Others are Hugh Jackman, Greg
Kinnear, Jake Gyllenhaal, Cameron Diaz, Debra Messing, Eva Longoria,
Sarah Jessica Parker, Adam Sandler, to name a few. The day that my
segment was shot Brendan Fraser was also taping.
I wasn’t supposed to tell everyone the details of my segment before, but
now I can. First I meet Telly Monster and then Elmo. Telly describes
Elmo’s appearance to me. Elmo doesn’t understand why he did that so I
explain it’s because I’m blind and can’t see him. Elmo initially feels
sorry for me but I put him at ease right away saying, “It’s just natural
for me.” Elmo invites his Sesame Street friends to meet me and they all
gather on the famous Sesame Street steps when I sing a jazz version of
“Everybody’s Song”. It was so much fun to sing with Big Bird, Cookie
Monster, Abby Cadabby, Zoe, Maria and Gordon are the whole cast. Elmo
kept making me laugh the whole time.
I’m glad I could talk about being blind with Elmo. It’s good for people
to know that even though I’m blind, I can still do many things I love –
like singing, playing piano, drums and the saxophone. Everyone was so
nice at Sesame Street.
Keep watching ….
